Head to Head Energy Challenge
Overview
A competitive human-powered energy challenge where participants race to boil a measured volume of water using only the electricity they generate. The challenge is to heat 5ml or 10ml of water from 0°C to 100°C, with the first rider to reach boiling point completing the race.
Completion time is recorded and displayed on integrated timers, while LEDs show heating progress throughout. The system provides a clear and physical demonstration of the conversion of human effort into something we talk for granted, making tea!

Heating & Measurement System
Integrated resistive heating element
Riders generate electrical power that accumulates as energy and is converted directly into heat. Using the specific heat capacity of water, enough energy must be produced to raise 5ml or 10ml of water to 100°C. When boiling point is reached, the system records the completion time.
