The Installation

• We installed a two-bike generator system that allowed participants to race against each other while generating real electrical output.

• The competitive format encouraged participation and made energy production visible and immediate within the event space.

• Riders marked their journey across a large UK map installation, with each effort representing movement, distance and collective contribution.

The Activation

• Each rider generated a fixed unit of energy represented through LED indicators.

• One completed energy unit symbolised the distance a donated bike could carry someone on a daily journey to work, education or support services.

The Outcome

• Over the course of the event, 220 refurbished bicycles were donated to refugees and people seeking asylum through The Bike Project.

• The installation connected physical effort with meaningful social impact, reinforcing themes of mobility, contribution and independence.
