PROJECTS > HOLBROOK PRIMARY ECO CLASSROOM
Holbrook Primary School wanted its new outdoor classroom to do more than provide shade and shelter. Delivered in partnership with The Hideout House Company, the eco classroom is a space for outdoor lessons and a working renewable energy system that pupils can see, measure and use.
At its centre is our Power Mixer, an off-grid system designed for schools. A wind turbine and a solar panel harvest energy into the Power Mixer battery, and live displays show pupils which source is working, how much each one is harvesting and how full the battery is. On sunny, cloudy, windy and still days, pupils can predict what will happen and then check the real result.
The stored energy is put to use by our Sound Mixer, a child-friendly audio system for stories, music and pupil recordings, so pupils can hear what their renewable energy is powering.
