Bicycle Powered Kinetic Butterflies

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtyVgCIHY7o]Along with artist and very good friend Chris Faulds we have been working on a kinetic installation for the Greenman Festival.

The ideas is quite simple, a bicycle generator to a ford galaxy windscreen wiper motor which when powered gives a lovely slow and extremely powerful spinning arm. Chris did an amazing job of making the butterflies out of old books, a chair, fishing line and some old boots! This simple example of generator to motor can be used for all sorts of amazing kinetic installations.
