PROJECTS > WINTER FESTIVAL – SOUTHBANK CENTRE
For the Southbank Centre Winter Festival, Electric Pedals delivered a series of pedal powered Christmas trees on Riverside Terrace. Visitors generated electricity by pedalling bicycles to illuminate the festive lighting in real time. Human energy also powered a large snow globe feature, while hand cranks positioned around the installation activated speakers reciting Christmas poetry. Set within one of London’s busiest cultural destinations, the installation transformed seasonal decoration into participation. Light was no longer passive. It was generated by the crowd. Delivered in collaboration with Vivid Design Works, the project combined spectacle, interaction and live renewable energy at scale.
