PROJECTS > TATE MODERN BICYCLE ZOETROPES
As part of Tate Modern’s Undercurrent: Young People’s Programme, we worked with artist Jacqueline Passmore to develop bicycle powered Zoetropes and projection installations within The Tanks. The project invited participants to generate electricity through pedalling, transforming physical effort into moving image and projection inside one of London’s most experimental cultural spaces.
Installation
Bicycle powered Zoetrope systems built from modified bicycle wheels
Installed within The Tanks at Tate Modern
Developed in collaboration with artist Jacqueline Passmore
Operated across eleven days of Undercurrent festival programming
Participants pedalled to power projection systems, enabling them to project their own ideas and visual responses onto the walls of The Tanks.
Impact
Direct youth engagement through physical participation
Immediate connection between effort and artistic output
Exploration of underground and under-represented voices
Encouraged young people to express ideas through energy-driven projection
